<description>This is as I remember Korean martal arts. I recall on time where a couple of black belts visited our studio (Tracy's Karate in San Diego) after I had been promoted to a fighting belt (no fluff - just lasted fighting 10 black belts in a row). One of them were very respectful but the other guy was upset that I had no form according to him. They came at me with these hard, high kicks and I would step back and do an inverted counter punch in to their kidney's after the kick passed by.... I eventually had to stop as they could not touch me... and I was not that great at that time.

I had no idea then and still have not idea why some people insist on good form. I only like something it if works and am not that concerned on how graceful it looks.

I think Bill Duff should have body slammed his oppenent and drop punched him... oh wait... that was against the rules :)

Great post. I agree with the statment that you fight the way you train. I use to use the example of playing flag football and then trying to play tackle! One has nothing to do with the other.

Now for the fluff... you might like my post entitled, Milla Jovovich in Ultraviolet" at http://myselfdefenseblog.com/http:/myselfdefenseblog.com/milla-jovovich-in-ultraviolet/ as it comments on the pretend side of fighting. It looks cool but it would never work.
