UFC Fight Night Tonight

Posted in Sport Fighting by Steve on the January 23rd, 2008

Just a reminder for you all, tonight is UFC Fight Night on Spike TV. This is free UFC and it looks like there’s going to be some good bouts. You’ll recognize some of the fighters from the Spike TV reality show “the Ultimate Fighter”. At least the writers strike can’t stop MMA.

UFC 80 Penn vs Stevenson

Posted in Sport Fighting by Steve on the January 17th, 2008

UFC 80 is two days away so I hope you didn’t make any plans for Saturday. It’s a good line up:

  • Joe Stevenson vs. BJ Penn
  • Fabricio Werdum vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
  • Jess Liaudin vs. Marcus Davis
  • Wilson Gouveia vs. Jason Lambert
  • Jorge Rivera vs. Kendall Grove

This is going to be a lightweight title match for Penn and Stevenson because Sean “the Muscle Shark” Sherk tested positive for steroids. (more…)

Bill Duff Knocked Out by Taekwondo Spinning Heel Kick

Posted in Martial Art Techniques, Sport Fighting by Steve on the December 31st, 2007

Here’s a video clip of Bill Duff, host of the History Channel’s TV show Human Weapon getting knocked out. It looks like someone else beside the cameramen from Human Weapon was shooting this match.

He’s fighting a Champion Taekwondo fighter when he gets caught with a spinning heel kick to the head. The funny thing about a Taekwondo match is that it’s really the furthest thing from a real fight; it’s really about who ever can kick the other one in the head first. (more…)

Sherdog Interview with John Hackleman

Posted in Martial Art Techniques, Sport Fighting by Steve on the December 24th, 2007

I know this is an old clip, but if you haven’t seen it it’s new to you, plus it has some good insight into fighting which you should know. It’s an interview with John Hackleman who is Chuck Liddell’s trainer or striking coach, what ever you want to call it. He talks about Chuck getting knocked out by Quentin “Rampage” Jackson. (more…)

Versus TV – WEC – World Extreme Cagefighting

Posted in Sport Fighting by Steve on the December 20th, 2007

If you don’t have Versus TV and are into combat sports you should really think about getting it. They carry World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), which I find to be really entertaining and fun to watch. I would have to say that their fighters and fights are just as good as UFC or Pride FC. In fact they have some of the UFC’s fighters, fighters like Joe “Diesel” Riggs and Jens Pulver. (more…)

How to Fight a Boxer

Posted in Martial Art Techniques, Sport Fighting by Steve on the December 12th, 2007

This is a very interesting video clip of a kick boxer fighting a boxer. This is a K-1 match up from 2004. The fighters are a kick boxer named Alexey “The Red Scorpion” Ignashov and a boxer named Arthur Williams. Ignashov just slaughters Williams with low roundhouse kicks to the knee and thigh, which Ignashov is know for. (more…)

Funny Muay Thai Fighter Groin Kick

Posted in Funny Videos, Sport Fighting by Steve on the December 7th, 2007

Here’s a very strange clip of Muay Thai fighters going all out trying to kick each other in the junk. This is very unsportsman like behavior.

I have to admit it made me laugh out loud. I’m sure you will too.

I guess this is why groin kicks are illegal in sport fighting. Because the fighters would just focus in on the old family jewels.

I glad we train in groin kick defense in krav. You never know when you’ll get in a professional nut kicking contest. ;-)

UFC 79 Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva

Posted in Sport Fighting by Steve on the December 2nd, 2007

I am really looking forward to this UFC event, mostly because I really can’t stand Matt Hughes and Wanderlei Silva and really like Chuck Liddell and Georges St. Pierre. If I could have my way it could be a tag team match, Liddell and St. Pierre vs Hughes and Silvia. (more…)

Dutch Kickboxing Legend Rob Kaman

Posted in Sport Fighting by Steve on the November 12th, 2007

Here is a video for the people that haven’t heard of Rob Kaman, its highlight reel of some of his fights.  Rob Kaman is a 9 time World Champion Kickboxing and Muay Thai Champion known as “The Dutchman” or “Mr. Low Kick”, which is funny now because there are tons of Dutch fighters (more…)
