Here is a rare video clip on Imi Lichtenfeld the founder of Krav Maga giving a short talk about being prepared.

Besides Darren Levine obviously, two of my other instructors at Sherman Oaks Krav Maga, Jarret Waldman and David Bluestein trained with Imi in Israel.

It must have been great to train with Imi, from what I’ve heard he was a really warm, fun guy.

Here’s an instructional video clip of Rob Kaman training his famous low roundhouse kick. He has his training partner place a kicking shield on his thigh and move around to train timing and distance. (more…)

This is a great clip of sort-of-rock star Glen Danzig starting a fight, then getting knocked out. He’s discussing the band line up with a guy, then gets mad and shoves the guy. The guy comes back with a haymaker and lays Danzig out. What kills me about this is, what did Danzig think the guy was going to do after he shoved him? (more…)

Here’s a Krav Maga instructional video. It goes over how we do a straight punch and palm heel strike. The chin is down and the shoulders are slightly forward. When you punch roll your shoulder to protect your jaw. Always keep your chin down so you don’t get hit on the button. Most of the times when you see knock outs it’s because the person that gets knocked out doesn’t have their chin tucked. (more…)

 Here’s a fun interview clip with MMA pioneer, ex bouncer, street fighter and Krav Maga supporter Bas Rutten.

 He talks about what he would do if he had to fight mountain of a man Kimbo Slice in the street. Bas’s answer “I’d distract him, then maybe kick to the groin, then dangada, dangada, dangada…’. How very Krav of you Bas.

 Krav Maga 3^rd degree black belt Jarret Waldman shows how to quickly get out of some ones guard and into side mount position… to pound their face in. Sweet move!

  Watch this guy take on three men. He looks like he’s had some karate training even though he only uses punches. He knocks some of them down with jabs only which is pretty great. He keeps his hands up and keeps landing some good punches. He has pretty good movement and utilizes some stacking. 

  Watching the tape though you can’t help but see places where a knee or elbow strike would have come in handy. None the less he still knock one of the guys out cold and they have to call the ambulance.

  But this dude goes to show what you can do with two fists and some heart.

This is a fun video clip of Chuck Liddell teaching a fight clinic. He shows where his punching power comes from.

I don’t know about dropping your hand before you punch, but it seems to work for him… most of the time.

Chuck’s style is Chuck’s style, probably not a good idea to try and copy it.

This is a video of a man holding a woman hostage with a big knife. A cop sees an opening and knocks the guy back and away from the woman with a flying front kick. It’s not pretty, it’s not elegant but it does the job. This is a good argument to practice your kicks.

Situations like this is why Krav Maga spends so much time on knife defense, it’s an all too common occurrence.

Bouncer Stabbed. - A funny movie is a click away
Here you see two bouncers turning a guy away at the door. He then pulls out a knife and trys to stab them. They don’t seem to have any knife defense training at all. They run away and get the other bouncers from the club, instead of instinctively counter attacking.

At the end of the video you’ll see all the bouncers go running after the dude with the knife. If they caught him I bet he got one hell of a beat down.
