Krav Maga Straight Punch and Palm Heel Strike

Posted in Krav Maga by Steve on the November 9th, 2007

Here’s a Krav Maga instructional video. It goes over how we do a straight punch and palm heel strike. The chin is down and the shoulders are slightly forward. When you punch roll your shoulder to protect your jaw. Always keep your chin down so you don’t get hit on the button. Most of the times when you see knock outs it’s because the person that gets knocked out doesn’t have their chin tucked.

In Krav when we punch we do less of a rotation with out fists than some styles of martial arts. We rotate our fists 45 degrees as opposed to 90 degrees. This is to protect the wrist.

This clip also goes over palm heel strikes. This is delivered the same as a straight punch but with the palm of hand. This is a good strike for people to use that can’t close their fist properly; they have long finger nails or have already broken their knuckles in the fight.

When you first start Krav Maga you will practice these over and over until they become second nature.
