Krav Maga 411

One of the things we are taught in Krav is situational awareness, because being aware and letting potential assailants know you’re aware of them is a big part of self defense. A lot of times by being “aware”, the assault is defused before it starts. You can either avoid it all together or be in a better position to defend and counter.

Here is a video clip of a knife attack caught on tape. A man is followed out of a convenience store and has his wallet stolen. He is either stabbed or sliced by the assailant in the arm. It hits an artery and starts bleeding profusely.   

The man that gets cut doesn’t even seem aware that he’s being followed so closely out of the store. He’s day dreaming or thinking about what he has to do latter that night, so he’s an easy target.

Sometimes when people have someone behind them they don’t want to turn around and make eye contact. They don’t want to appear rude or confrontational or what ever. When ever someone comes up behind me like this I turn around and say “how you doing?” or move to the side motion for them to pass me. I come off as “polite” but I’m really just watching my own back.
